Welcome to 2016! The beginning of a new year is a great time to start fresh, look at the world in a new light, and shake things up. And, for Guadalupe School, that’s exactly what we’re doing.

But, 2016 is not only a new year, but it’s a very special year for our school: our 50th birthday! Celebrating fifty years of uplifting Salt Lake City through educational resources for anyone willing to learn is an incredible milestone. So, while we look to the future and what we can do differently or better, it’s also important that we get back to the roots of where our humble organization all started. It’s critical that we honor that original idea that sparked the movement we now carry on together.

A few weeks ago, we got together as an organization and asked ourselves, “What is it that happens here at Guadalupe?” What do we get inspired by? What do we wake up and come to work every day for? What keeps our volunteers coming back? What is it that makes our students exceptional?

As you can imagine, there were a lot of inspiring stories that went along with these questions. But, in the end, we could all agree on one thing. A central theme of the work we and our students do that truly makes the difference.

Tomorrow, we will be revealing our BRAND NEW MISSION STATEMENT and with it, a new perspective on what it means to work, give, learn, and volunteer at Guadalupe. Thank you for inspiring us to find a new direction, mixed with the stories that have taken place here over the last fifty years. We’re changing our outlook a bit, but not our commitment to quality education in Salt Lake City.
