By Danielle Lankford, Guadalupe School Communications Specialist Can you believe it? It's already November, which means 2016 isn't far behind! As we begin to wrap up the year at Guadalupe, we reflect on all that we have achieved together in 2015. And, I say together, because without our wonderful students, tutors, volunteers, donors, and community partners - we just wouldn't be able to do it all! Here is a quick run-down of what you have helped us accomplish so far this year, changing educational dreams into goals and plans for the future: Pay for Success: Thanks to United Way, Guadalupe School was able to participate in the Pay for Success preschool investment program, funded by Goldman Sachs and J.B. Pritzker. This initiative provided funds to bring extra services into the preschool classroom to vulnerable students. Statistics predicted that 25% of these children would need special education services, but when tested in first grade, all of our students hit appropriate development milestones, and none required any accommodation. Adult CNA Classes: In partnership with Utah CNA Centers, Guadalupe School has created the state’s first Certified Nursing Assistant curriculum for English lkanguage learners. Eight of our adult students completed the course, attending nursing classes on weekends and reinforcing their understanding in weeknight English classes. They are now seeking licensesure. White House Recognition: This year, Guadalupe School was recognized of one of 232 “Bright Spots” in Hispanic Education by the White House Initiative on Hispanic Education.
Thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of so many, in this, our 50th year!
